Exploring Milan Italy – Chow Bella Travels

September 24, 2018

This world-famous Italian city bustling with life is as culturally rich in culture, fashion,  and business! I have always known as Milan as “The fashion capital of the world” as it is home to many high-end designer brands and fashion lines! I have to say, I was not too impressed with Milan… It is the 5th largest city in Italy and it has a very industrial vibe! Although, with that being said, it of course still has its charms and culture!! It was quite a pleasant surprise arriving in Milan just to find out it is fashion week!! I mean, could our timing be any better?!?

We were planning on spending a few days in this busy city, yet we cut our time here a bit short as we decided to move on to Lake Como which we had never been to either. (So glad we did so as Milan was SO busy, yet beautiful!)

What to do in Milan?

#1. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele.

I was most excited to visit the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in the center of the city, as I have seen so many beautiful photos of it and much anticipated seeing it in person! So, that is what we did first! Funny enough, we were wandering down the street right next to our hotel, turned the corner, and BAM!!! The Galleria was right there! This is Italy’s oldest shopping mall and a major landmark! Construction started in 1865 in honor of the king of the kingdom of Italy. I love this extravagant 19th-century glass-topped, barrel-vaulted tunnel serves as a lively, noisy and colorful shopping mall!!

#2. Milan Cathedral.

I am sure you have seen this cathedral on Instagram before… It is truly a stunning cathedral with architecture like none other! I was in awe of the intricate detail and design! This is the 3rd largest church in all of Italy! It is definitely the landmark of Milan
and something you do not want to miss!

#3.Castello Sforza.

This incredible castle in the center of Milan is so beautiful! It was built in the 1300s for the royal family, and the design was under the guidance of Leonardo Di Vinci!!! Today the castle is a landmark of Milan as well as a museum with lots of history of this magical city!

Explore the city.

This is always one of my favorite things to do in a new city! I love just wandering around and discovering the endless wonders of new places!!! You truly can’t beat getting lost in the streets!

Overall, we did really enjoy this whirlwind day in Milano! Although a bustling fashion and business capital, it does have its charm, culture, and jaw-dropping architecture!!

After our night in Milano, we woke up early and went for a morning walk through the city, my Dad got me a banana & almond butter protein smoothie (made me so happy) then we hopped in our car and began the journey to Lake Como (next blog post will be all about the BEAUTIFUL Lake Como!)

Until The Next Adventure,
