A week in France all about baguettes and cheese – Chow Bella Travels

October 28, 2017

Chow Bella,

I just spent a week in France enjoying the baguettes, croissants, and cheese.

We flew business class on Lufthansa, it was a smooth flight and we enjoyed the airline.

Here is my review of the flight Lufthansa business class flight from LAX-FRA review – ChowBellaTravels

We flew From LAX-FRA and then we took a little flight from Frankfurt to Paris.

While we were at the Frankfurt airport we got some yummy fresh pretzels.

We arrived in Paris at 6pm and had an hour drive from the airport to the hotel, so it was the perfect opportunity to take a nap. 😛

On the way to the hotel in Paris, we drove down Champs-Elysees around the Arch De Triumph. It was so beautiful and the perfect time of day to drive by as it wasn’t too busy.

We stayed at the Domain Les Creyeres chateau in Reims. It is a Relais & Chateau property. We LOVED this property. The room was very nice, and we loved the history of the chateau. IMG_2199

And of course all the bread options… I am guilty of trying each one, you know. To make sure they are good enough for my family. 😉

The chocolate croissant was outstanding!! Hot melty dark chocolate, with hot puff pastry. Yes please!IMG_2223

The next day we went to town. This is the center of the town.IMG_2191

We visited the caves of Pommery and Veuve Cliquot to see how they make champagne. This is artwork in the caves of lady Pommery. Through a guided tour of the cellars, we saw some of the Gallo-Roman chalk pits and the exhibition of contemporary art.IMG_2250

This is the outside of the beautiful & colorful Pommery buildings.

This Elizabethan-style estate was conceived and built by Madame Pommery in the 19th century.

After Pommery, we headed to the Veuve Cliquot champagne house which was just a five-minute walk. This is the entrance to the Veuve Cliquot staircase leading down to the caves. IMG_2280

And then,

We stopped at a cute little flower shop in the town and got my mom a pretty flower for her birthday. IMG_2397

After that it was time for lunch, so we stopped at a cute little cheese shop and picked out some yummy cheese. IMG_2559

And then, to go with the cheese… Baguette. We found homemade bread shop and got a fresh baguette.IMG_2487

We walked to the town center and sat in the middle at a little table with chairs and ate. We got Mimolette, Truffle, Triple Cream, and Camembert cheese.IMG_2344IMG_2343

After that, we walked back to the hotel and spotted the gorgeous Reims cathedral. IMG_2410IMG_2421

As we were walking back it started getting dark, and chilly.IMG_2505

Here is a pic of me sitting in the lounge at our hotel. It rained quite a bit, but I loved all the greenery.IMG_2536IMG_2552

What a spectacular trip! I loved the photographs and your descriptions of the places you saw. How thoughtful to have bought your mom a flower for her birthday, and what a great way to celebrate.
